Forum Duisburg
Forum Duisburg / Duisburg / Germany
Forum Duisburg (57,000 m²) is an architecturally first rate and attractive retail centre, which opened in September 2008 at König-Heinrich-Platz, one of the most central, inner-city sites in Duisburg.
The project is situated on the main shopping street, the Königstraße, perfectly integrating into the environment and harmoniously blending within the established Duisburg structural and retailing landscape.
With very open designed shopping aisles, that promote a definite street-like character, this project has the form of a gallery, evoking spaciousness and creating the impression of an authentic city quarter. With a three broad shopping aisles and main entrances, the Forum is excellently linked with its environment, leading visitors through to the direct neighbourhood and associated shopping possibilities.
The varied concept of the Forum, incorporating shopping, gastronomy and leisure, significantly enhances the atmosphere of Königstraße and will, in the future, enable it to further strengthen its status as Duisburg’s shopping promenade.
In conjunction with the development of the City-Palais which is situated opposite Forum Duisburg and which houses a casino, restaurants and shopping, this area is set to become the focal point of urban construction that will serve as a strong stimulus for future inner-city revitalisation activities. Forum Duisburg is one of the most modern inner city, integrated shopping centres in Germany. It was awarded “ very good” in terms of its sustainable design and environmental building functions by BREEAM, and has been labelled “ The Greenest shopping centre in Europe.”
