Forum Palermo
Forum Palermo / Palermo, Sicily / Italy
Multi Development-C Italia developed a 65,000 m² retail & leisure project in Palermo, the capital city of Sicily, southern Italy. Forum Palermo is the first major project dveloped in a radius of 150 km and is expected to act as the engine for the economic and social regeneration of the surrounding areas. The site is located near to an exit of the Palermo-Messina motorway and is connected to the railway network thus providing excellent accessibility for visitors coming from the city as well as from Palermo’s wider region. A tram station and a bus terminal will connect Forum Palermo to the city centre.
Forum Palermo includes a hypermarket, a stand-alone Do-It-Yourself anchor and the renovation of two existing buildings into restaurants and artisans shops. Seven anchors and 117 shops and restaurants will offer the widest range of international and national top brands as well as a selection of local tenants. The project also includes a seven screens cinema that reinforces the mixed-use offer. There are 2,400 dedicated parking spaces for the shopping centre and 1,100 for DIY store customers.
T+T Design created the master plan and Lombardini 22 and Progetto CMR, both from Milan, Italy, are the architects. Forum Palermo is an enclosed scheme with most of the shops and facilities at ground level. Three entrances lead to three squares linked by large-scale malls to form a mix of styles inspired by the various cultures and atmospheres of Palermo.
Forum Palermo takes the lead in sustainable development by significantly reducing energy consumption, and the extensive use of solar panels further helps to reduce the centre’s footprint and energy use
The project’s design fits perfectly with the site area, making Forum Palermo a bridge between the sea and the mountains rising behind a short strip of flat land.
Stylish and bright indoor spaces will create a most pleasant atmosphere with a Mediterranean touch, while a landmark tower will reinforce the project’s distinctive image.
Forum Palermo takes the lead in sustainable development by significantly reducing energy consumption, focussing on durable and flexible design, integrating local culture, styles and fabrics into the architecture, aiming to captivate and support the communities growth.
